Mobile Pouches – for Focus, Wellbeing, and Learning

At IES Gävle, we are — and will remain — a mobile-free school.
Introducing mobile pouches is not about creating a new rule, but about ensuring that our existing policy truly works in everyday school life.

Today’s students are constantly exposed to notifications, social media, and fast digital rewards. This affects concentration, classroom calm, and long-term wellbeing. School should be a place for learning, human interaction, and focus — not endless scrolling or digital distractions.

Mobile pouches help us to:

create calmer classrooms and stronger study focus
reduce stress and distractions during the school day
support students in being present, engaged, and ready to learn

From the autumn term 2026, all schools in Sweden will be legally required to be mobile-free. We have chosen to act already — not because we have to, but because we are prepared, confident, and committed to our educational environment.

First out is the pilot, Year 7. During the start of Spring term 2026 are implementing the mobile pouches into our daily business!

Being early is not about being strict. It is about being responsible. Mobile pouches are a practical way to ensure a safe, structured, and focused school day, giving students the best conditions to learn and develop without unnecessary digital noise.

This is a deliberate choice — for our students’ learning, wellbeing, and future.
