An introduction to our school

IES Gävle provides a bilingual English and Swedish education to 1,200 students. Our school is a safe and calm environment where students can concentrate and reach their full potential with the help of our dedicated staff. 

As principal of IES Gävle, I’m extremely proud of our international community. Our school is a welcoming place where all students, regardless of background, can expect to be both challenged and supported in their school work in a safe and secure environment. Our staff also come from many different backgrounds and their varied experiences and talents come together to create an inclusive and diverse school.

A large part of what makes IES Gävle special is our attention to academic excellence. Our teachers are prepared to meet our students on an individual level while stimulating a desire to excel in their respective subjects. I am proud to see that in our latest student survey, 9 out of 10 students at IESG agree that they are aware of the expectations during their lessons, which is the basis for a well-functioning learning environment.

Where your child will go to school is an important decision, and we are proud and humbled by the trust parents give us when they place their children in our school. Our main intake is in grade three, but there may also be a limited number of places available in the school in some higher grades, so if you have older children, you can still apply.
