No, we do not use entrance exams or selection tests for admission to our schools. Places are allocated entirely based on queue time, meaning that the applicant who has been in the queue the longest will be offered a place first.
Yes, you can join the queue regardless of where you currently reside. Please note, however, that we can only offer school places to students who are registered residents in Sweden (folkbokförda). If your child does not have a Swedish personal identity number but you are planning to move here, please contact the relevant school directly, and they will assist you further with the application process.
You can place your child in the queue from February 1st the year after they were born at the earliest.
Please contact the school’s admissions team for more information regarding opportunities to visit the school. Further details about open house days can also be found on each school’s website.
Each school has their own queue, and it is unfortunately not possible to transfer a queue position or accumulated queue time between schools. However, you are more than welcome to be in the queue for multiple schools simultaneously. You can easily add another school by logging into your SchoolSoft profile.
Each school maintains its own separate queue. We operate on a first-come, first-served basis, as we believe this is the fairest approach. Sibling priority applies when a sibling currently attends, or has been accepted into, an IES school at the time when the next sibling is due to start. You can easily add the sibling’s Swedish personal identity number (personnummer) to your profile. Please note that being in the queue for, or having a place at, one IES school does not grant you priority at our other schools.
Apply in just three steps:
Most of our schools begin their intake for the following academic year in the autumn term. The length of the process depends on how quickly we hear back from families who are offered places. We will contact you as soon as possible so make sure your contact information is up to date so we can contact you!
You can log in to the queue to make sure your contacts are correct.
We understand that you would like to know as early as possible whether your child has a place. However, it is difficult to give a precise answer before the school completes the intake process. We offer places based on the date on which students joined the queue, but also consider whether they will have a sibling in the school at the same time (syskonförtur).
You can log in to the queue to make sure your contacts are correct.
You can log in to the queue document and in the top right corner there is a link with an arrow saying "Log in", if you log in with your child's personal number and your password you are able to change your application.
You can also write to the school in question and let them know your queue ID number or child's personal number and the information that you would like to change. You can find contact details for our schools here.
If you are offered a place and decline it, you can choose to move to the next year and stay in the queue. If you then declines three times in total then you will lose your queue position and the place will be offered to the next student in line. If you later decide you would like a place then you will need to apply again.
