More Than a School, IES Bromma is a Learning Community
A school is more than a building or just a place to study—it is a living ecosystem built on the strength of its history and community. As we move into our third decade of educating and empowering learners, IES Bromma came alive this autumn to honor two of our most cherished annual traditions: Brommaloppet and Autumn Fair.

By celebrating these traditions four weeks into the school year - from running on Friday to to our Autumn Fair fun on Saturday, we don't just celebrate the present—we build a lasting legacy of belonging, student agency, and deep collaboration. The energy across both events was absolutely incredible, highlighting how our shared culture makes our school community thrive:
Brommaloppet
Each class across year groups 4-9 was designated a color to wear for the run (which also earned each student class points). It was fantastic to see our students filling the local paths near the school wearing vibrant colors, transforming the run into a sea of team spirit. Our junior school (Years 4-6) conquered a scenic loop surrounding Lilsjön, while our senior students (Years 7-9) tackled the trails through the nearby Judarskogens naturreservat. Thanks to our staff and students cheering each other on, this tradition unified our school by ensuring that every single learner felt encouraged, valued and a sense of accomplishment.

The Annual Autumn Fair
The Autumn Fair is a true testament to our community's collaborative spirit and is proudly organized by our fantastic Parent Teacher Association. With the PTA, the IES Bromma parents and students took charge, demonstrating amazing inventiveness by planning, advertising, and operating their own booths—from busy food tables, to farmers markets, book loppis, to a variety of game stalls and even a pie throwing contest!

Artistic Expression
Our school culture thrives on offering a venue for creativity. At the Autumn Fair, we featured wonderful student music and dance performances, including an unforgettable concert by some of our 9th-grade students in their band, The Fifth Phoenix. They brought the whole crowd together with both their own original songs and good old classics that even our Principal, Dr Heimeier, could sing along to!
Best Class Prizes
True to our core values, we capped off the festivities by handing out the coveted Brommaloppet prizes. While we recognized individual achievements at the event on Friday, Saturday was intentionally dedicated to celebrating the specific classes and year groups that demonstrated unity and shared effort.
School culture and community aren't built by chance—it requires deliberate effort, and our shared traditions serve as the building blocks. When we run, build, and perform as one, we aren't just a school—we are a true community.
Here’s to our 21st year and the many shared traditions still to come!
