IES Borås Players Win Regional Chess Tournament - Again

Seven senior players from IES Borås achieved a remarkable victory in a regional chess tournament, placing first among 900 students from across Västra Götaland.

Internationella Engelska Skolan Borås is proud to celebrate a significant achievement by our senior students in the recent regional chess competition "Marsdraget". Despite technical difficulties, that prevented some students from participating, seven of our senior players managed to join the tournament - and win!

Even with a late start, the IES Borås team "Knight Riders" were able to end on top in the online chess competetion, where a total of 900 students from schools throughout Västra Götaland participated. We look forward to the next chess competition, an internal IES tournament in April, to provide more opportunities for all our students to compete.

Next up, our year 4 students will compete in the worlds biggest chess competiton for school classes called "Schackfyran", hosted by Sveriges schackförbund. Every year about 25 000 fourth graders from over 1 000 classes participate in the competition.
