Our senior students, that won the competition.
The senior students at IES Borås claimed victory in the first digital chess tournament ever held in Västergötland. The competition, Chess Battle, was organised by the Swedish Chess Federation and forms part of its initiative “Chess in Schools”.
In total, 37 students from four schools in the region took part. Internationella Engelska Skolan Borås emerged as the winners after the school’s five top players gathered 155 points, securing a clear lead over the second-place finishers, who scored 113 points.
In addition to participating in the competition, the school has its own chess club that meets in the library every Tuesday. The club has become a valued part of school life and contributes to a greater sense of community, as well as providing a meaningful break-time activity for students with an interest in chess and strategic thinking.
