Two more IES schools certified by Generation Pep

IES Helsingborg and IES Eskilstuna have both been awarded the prestigious Pep School certification by Generation Pep. This recognition is the result of long-term, targeted efforts to make physical activity and nutritious food a natural part of the school day, countering sedentary behaviour and screen time.

IES operates on the firm belief that physical well-being and a safe and calm learning environment are crucial for academic success. Both IES Helsingborg and IES Eskilstuna have systematically integrated healthy habits into their daily routines, aligning their local efforts with Generation Pep’s six core areas and IES’ central health initiative, #movewithIES.

Positive effects in the classroom
The impact of these health initiatives is already evident in the daily lives of the students. Ms Rachel Kjellman, principal of IES Helsingborg, highlights the noticeable shift in classroom energy:

“We know that safety, health, and academic results go hand in hand. By consciously investing in good nutrition and more movement in everyday life, we create an environment where students feel better and have more energy. This is clearly reflected in the energy levels in our classrooms.”

According to Ms Andjela Dimitrijevic, health initiative manager for #movewithIES, studies demonstrate how student health is reflected in academic performance. She explains that physical movement not only enhances concentration and memory, but also provides a natural outlet for excess energy, leading to a calmer classroom environment and fewer conflicts in the schoolyard.
