Describe your work and what your role entails.
Oh my goodness, my role is like a good soup... a little bit of everything and the absolute perfect blend. I do a lot of different administrative tasks, from planning events at the school, including staff parties, to conferences held at our school. I help students when they are in need, which can be anything from calling home because someone is not feeling well, to sitting in the car with a family to find the best solution to get the day started.

Why did you choose to start working at IES, and how long have you been working here?
Learning Swedish has been difficult for many reasons, so I thought I would start to look in more English-speaking environments and fell upon an IES job announcement. I started in the autumn of 2021 at Bromma and have zero regrets.

What would you say makes your school a great school?
There are so many things, but one is how the management team is really in touch with all aspects of the school and their welcoming, open-door approach. I am always amazed at how well the staff get along, hang out, and enjoy each other's company. I remember feeling so welcome on my first day, and nothing has changed.

"The best thing about my job is seeing changes in students, witnessing their 'aha' moments, being able to see them grow and noticing the changes in the conversations and how they have matured over the years."

What is the best thing about your job?
Seeing changes in students, witnessing their "aha" moments, being able to see them grow and noticing the changes in the conversations and how they have matured over the years.

What activity during the school year do you enjoy the most? Why?
The first day of school. I LOVE that new start feeling. I remember all the feelings I had on the first day, and now I get to be a support to others feeling those first-day butterflies. And then there is the part of me that is so happy I never have to do a first day of school again.

What are you most proud of when you think about your school?
I think we all really do put our best foot forward from our youngest students all the way up to management. It is an environment where we are reminded that each day is a new day, we learn from yesterday, but it doesn't have to be a part of today.
