The competition, designed to engage students of all skill levels, aims to increase interest in mathematics through fun yet challenging questions that enhance mathematical abilities.

Ms Hetal Bhinday, their teacher in mathematics, expressed her immense pride in the students, saying, "This is a remarkable accomplishment, and I could not be more proud of them! Their hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm for mathematics have truly paid off." In addition to the class award, each top finalist received a diploma and a t-shirt to commemorate their impressive scores.

As a result of their outstanding performance, the entire 5A class has been awarded a stipend of 1,000 SEK. The finalists had the exciting opportunity to attend the award ceremony, which took place on 15 February at ABF-huset in Stockholm. The ceremony was an inspiring event, where students were not only recognised for their achievements but also treated to an exclusive lecture and an exciting physics show performed by Stockholm University.

IES Kista was not the only IES school participating in the competition, we also had great results from IES Lund – with one student winning 1st place in year 5 – and IES Örebro.

The Pangea Maths Competition is a nationwide competition that attracts thousands of students. This year, approximately 14,100 students from over 84 different municipalities across Sweden participated, showcasing their problem-solving skills and passion for mathematics.
