STEM in action: IES Liljeholmen joins international ‘Engineering for Our Life’ project

IES Liljeholmen is proud to be part of ‘Engineering for Our Life’, an exciting ongoing international initiative organised by Science on Stage Germany.

Launched in March 2026, this collaborative project gathers 22 STEM teachers from 15 different countries. Working in international teams, the participants are developing innovative classroom activities designed to bring real-world science, technology, engineering, and mathematics concepts directly to students.

Representing IES Liljeholmen, Ms Rakimah D. Macabalang, a Science and Technology teacher, is collaborating within a group focused on sustainable materials. The goal is not only to co-create educational content on a global scale, but to test and refine these activities directly with students in real classrooms during the current school year.

"The idea is not only to develop these materials together internationally, but to try them out in our everyday teaching. Using the students' real-time feedback and our classroom experience allows us to truly develop and enhance the project," says Ms Macabalang.

The initial project meeting took place in Düsseldorf in March, where participants worked together to map out and refine their core ideas. The collaboration is actively ongoing through continuous teamwork, subsequent international sessions, and live classroom testing.
