Internationella Engelska Skolan Österåker to open 2024
In August 2024, we will open Internationella Engelska Skolan Österåker. The building permit has been approved, so construction can start soon. The new school, in the former Hackstaskolan building, will be ready next year.

More than 1100 children have been placed in the queue to attend Internationella Engelska Skolan in Österåker, including 762 who would like a place when the school opens in August 2024. The new school will be an F-9 school with two classes per year, including a fritidshem (leisure time centre). The school will be in a brand new, state-of-the-art premises with a new school restaurant and an on-site kitchen to make fresh food. There will also be a new schoolyard.
Jörgen Stenquist, deputy CEO, responsible for establishing new IES schools, said: “We are very happy to tell you that the school will be able to open in 2024. We know that there is a great demand among families in Österåker for a school with our international profile, and we are happy to offer this.”
Mr Stenquist, who also lives in Österåker, added: “The new school will complement other schools in the municipality, and add a profile that does not exist in the area.”
