We are delighted to share some great news regarding five students at IES Södra Änggården. Last weekend, the school’s robotics team achieved an impressive result, securing 3rd place at the RoboCup Junior Sweden finals in Linköping.

By placing in the top three in Sweden, they have officially qualified for the “World Cup of Robotics”, which will take place in Incheon, South Korea, this summer. Competing in one of the three available categories, the students held their own against the other teams, including several high schools. RoboCup Junior is a robotics competition for young people, designed to foster interest in technology, teamwork, and complex problem-solving.
Enas Zarrugh Ismail, Head of the Science and Technology Department at IES Södra Änggården, worked alongside Dr Manish Rauthan in mentoring the classes throughout the project. She also led the organisation and planning, and has been in contact with the competition organiser since last year. Reflecting on their performance, she noted:
"This is a wonderful achievement and a real testament to the students’ hard work, resilience, and teamwork. They showed great focus and the ability to keep going even when things were challenging; their support for one another and positive attitude made all the difference."
The RoboCup initiative is a global movement with the ambitious goal of developing a robot football team capable of defeating the human FIFA World Champions by the year 2050. By participating in these regional and national heats, our students are engaging with the same cutting-edge research and logic used by roboticists worldwide.
We wish the team the very best of luck as they prepare to represent IES Södra Änggården in the world’s largest robotics and AI competition, RoboCup 2026.
