IES Länna and SCRIIN collaborate to enhance student learning

Internationella Engelska Skolan Länna is strengthening the conditions for students' academic success. Through a partnership with the organisation SCRIIN, modern technology is being used to increase physical activity – an initiative that goes hand in hand with the school’s focus on order, a calm study environment, and high academic expectations.

To explore how physical movement contributes to this environment, year 6 students are participating in a project in which they have been wearing SCRIIN activity trackers. The aim has been to gain an objective understanding of the students’ physical activity during the school day and to examine how increased movement can be integrated to improve classroom concentration and enhance overall student well-being.

In addition, interviews are being conducted with students to understand their habits better, while the school is simultaneously investing in new equipment and activities. Part of this work involves enabling students themselves to take responsibility for leading activities in the playground.

“It is fantastic to see the pride in our students when they step into the role of activity leaders. By allowing them to take charge of play and movement, the activities become more engaging for everyone,” says Filip Modée, health motivator and PE teacher at IES Länna.

Julie Kelly, principal at IES Länna, emphasises the link between movement and learning:

“We know that physical activity has enormous benefits for both well-being and academic performance. By understanding students’ movement patterns, we can create an even better structure for their school day, giving every student the best possible conditions to reach their full potential.”
