Gävle's Teacher of the Year – thought it was spam
IES Gävle is celebrating their German teacher, Frederik Scheu, who was recently voted Teacher of the Year by the students of Gävle.

The award came as a complete surprise to the Swiss teacher.
"I got an email in the spring but thought it was spam and deleted it straight away," he explains.
It took a while for him to realise what had happened. But after Principal Dan Hall mentioned the award at the school's first staff meeting, congratulations have been pouring in from colleagues, friends, current and former students – and the local media. Frederik is both happy and grateful, but also a bit overwhelmed.
"I'm not used to all this attention," he says with a smile.
Now Frederik is looking forward to the students returning for a new school year. Life as a teacher will then get back to normal, with a new and honourable title on his CV.
