Film with IES students shown at the UN headquarters
Internationella Engelska Skolan Bromma has taken part in the "Stomping for Peace" initiative. The initiative, involving 38 countries through SOS Children's Villages, aims to raise awareness about the impact of war on children and the need for adults to take greater action.
The initiative #StompingForPeace also aligns with IES' commitment to fostering a diverse community of staff and students from different cultures and countries. The film was shot in locations around the world and was screened yesterday, November 20, on World Children's Day at the UN headquarters. At IES Bromma, the students have been discussing how war affects the lives of children.
"It's a shame to lose your friends and family," says Axel, a student in class 5D at the school. "They'd probably be very sad and might have to leave their home country, which would be really hard."
Classmate Lucy highlights the root of the problem. "They see their parents getting sad and scared when they see that other people can't get along."
Students at the school also came up with their own message that reinforced the stomping in the schoolyard: "Adults should know better, we children are stomping in protest!"
