IES offers the Cambridge IGCSE, the world's most popular qualification for students aged 14-16. Cambridge International Education, owned by the University of Cambridge, works with over 10,000 schools in the world with an international curriculum from the early years to secondary school. 37 of these schools are within Internationella Engelska Skolan.

Recently, the results of the latest exam series have been published. Almost 300,000 students in about 4600 schools in 140 countries took exams within Cambridge IGCSE in June 2024.

At IES, nearly 500 students graduated from grade 9 in 2024 after writing at least 1 IGCSE exam.

The results show that IES students receive higher grades in English as a Second Language compared with students at other Cambridge schools worldwide.

  • 14.4% of IES students received the highest possible grade, A*, compared to 10.6% of all participating students worldwide.

  • 90.4% of IES students received a grade of C or above, compared to 67.3% of all participating students worldwide.

Frederik Granström, Cambridge Manager at IES, said:
“I would like to congratulate our students and teachers for these results and their hard work and perseverance. Cambridge IGCSE offers a unique opportunity for our students to challenge themselves further as Cambridge IGCSE is more demanding than the Swedish curriculum. In addition, Cambridge IGCSE is an internationally recognized education that can open doors to study and a career abroad.”

Facts

Cambridge International Education is the awarding body of the International Education group at Cambridge University Press & Assessment, part of the University of Cambridge. Cambridge works with over 10,000 schools in 160 countries and offers a globally trusted and flexible framework for education from age 3 to 19 (the Cambridge Pathway). Cambridge qualifications, including Cambridge IGCSE and International AS & A Level, are recognised by over 2350 universities worldwide, including all UK universities and over 1000 in the US.

The interest in Cambridge at IES schools is increasing and today there are 37 Cambridge schools, which means that students are offered the opportunity to study according to the international curriculum, the Cambridge Pathway, in addition to their regular education according to the Swedish curriculum. Students are given the opportunity to sit exams for the internationally recognised International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), which opens doors to the possibility of studying abroad, for example.
