Congratulations to IES Borås on victory in cooking contest Kockduellen
Last week Alva Sigfridsson and Jana Issa, year nine students at IES Borås, won the national final of the cooking competition Kockduellen. The final took place at Restaurangakademin in Stockholm last Thursday.
The competition was tough. In total ten teams, from Luleå in the north to Hässleholm in the south, with two participants in each team, made it to the final in Stockholm.
"We made ravioli with vegan minced meat, and we had vegetables sauteed in butter, kale chips, and fried beetroot on top" Jana Issa told Borås Tidning.
"The presentation in front of the jury made us very nervous, so that was probably the hardest part. Since we were the last to compete, everyone stood and listened to us when we presented our dish" Jana Issa explained.
In addition to a large and beautiful trophy, Jana Issa and Alva Sigfridsson also won SEK 10,000 for the class's class fund.
The team from IES Hässleholm, year nine students Jessica Bui and Naya Krayem, also made it to the final.
