Internationella Engelska Skolan opens in Österåker
Internationella Engelska Skolan (IES) Österåker opens a newly built and renovated premises in Åkersberga on 20 August. During the 2024-25 academic year, the school will have about 460 students from preschool class to year 7 and just over 45 people on staff. The total capacity of the school is about 600 students in grades F-9, as well as after-school centers. Over the next two years, the school will grow into an F-9 school.
The first student to say 'yes' to a place at IES Österåker, Nathalia Pereaux, cutting the ribbon.
“It feels very good. We have been preparing for this for a long period, renovated and built new, and we are now opening with a very nice premises. Now we are ready to receive all students, and it is especially fun that we can receive students already for preschool class," says Leslie Pousette, principal of Internationella Engelska Skolan Österåker.
By renovating the old school building in Åkersberga, IES has created a completely new school in Österåker. This has been done in close collaboration with Österåker municipality.
“The collaboration with the municipality has been very good and I am proud that we can now offer more than 460 students in Österåker the opportunity to receive a high-quality education. The new school is fantastic, but what I am most proud of is what the staff offers our students every day. IES is a school where students and teachers work together, towards high academic goals, both in Swedish and English in a safe and calm environment," says Lars Jonsson, CEO of Internationella Engelska Skolan.
