Angelica Beltramo at IES Hässleholm is ‘School Nurse of the Year’

We are proud to announce that Angelica Beltramo, a school nurse at IES Hässleholm, has been named ‘School Nurse of the Year’ by the National Association of School Nurses. Angelica received the award and a scholarship of 25,000 SEK during last week’s conference in Gothenburg, where she was celebrated for her work in creating a safe school environment for our students.

The National Association of School Nurses (Riksföreningen för skolsköterskor) highlights Angelica as a true role model for the profession. The award is a testament to Angelica’s immense dedication, with the judges' motivation reading:

“For an outstanding commitment where heart and professional wisdom meet in every contact with a student. With warmth and sensitivity, Angelica sees every student and creates the sense of security that makes her a natural adult to turn to during the school day. Through initiatives such as the ‘Chill club’ and ‘First Aid for Young Heroes’, she strengthens the students’ health and self-esteem. Angelica is a true role model who, with drive and care, provides every student with the conditions to reach their full potential.”

It is clear that Angelica is passionate about empowering students, and her work is built on a strong core philosophy. Outside the door to her room hangs a quote that encapsulates her approach to student health: “When writing the story of your life, don’t let anyone else hold the pen.”

“To me, that sentence is about taking responsibility for your own life and having the courage to follow your dreams”, Angelica says. “Every individual has an inherent potential to grow and become their very best self, and that is what I want to help the students realise.”

Mia Göransdotter Hammar, chairperson of the National Association of School Nurses and coordinating school nurse at IES, adds:

“Naming the School Nurse of the Year is the national association’s chance to shine a spotlight on the fantastic work being done every day out in our schools. Preventive and health-promoting work is at the heart of our mission, and we want to recognise school nurses who drive the profession forward, put new knowledge into practice, and make a real difference to the health and future of young people.”
