Principal's Letter January 2023

Hi and a happy January to you all!

 

I hope you have had a good and relaxing time during the holidays. Now we have started spring term and the staff along with our students have had a great start. Our year 9 students now started their last term with us here at IES Linköping, Graduation Term! During last week myself and a few of our staff had a great day in Romme together with our students in year 9. For many of them it was their first time skiing, and they did great! 

From experience I know that the spring term goes quickly and sports break is just around the corner already. It is important that our students get to work with learning straight away. I want us to cooperate in this, school and home. We just completed the recruitment of a swedish teacher who will start week 9, and another one that will start a few weeks later. Within a few weeks we will also start the work with national tests in year 6 and year 9. These tests can feel cumbersome for our students. We will not grant any leave of absence during the time for the national tests. 

Gymnasieval årskurs 9 

Today the gymnasium choice for year 9 opens. We want the students to make at least 5 choices. All students have been given the opportunity to meet with our study and career advisor Ms Strachal.. If you have questions related to the gymnasium choice you should make contact with Ms Strachal. You can find her Contact information on our website. 

School Inspections Skolenkät 

Now it's time for the survey from Skol Inspection. School Inspection sends this survey out regularly, free schools do it every other year. The purpose of the survey is to evaluate the schools and contribute to all students' right to a good education in a safe and calm environment. It is important for us to get a high number of parents answering the survey so that we can evaluate and develop our organization to something even better. Therefore I am asking you to give a few minutes to answering the survey. Log in information can be found as an attachment to this letter as well as sent home with your child on paper. Tuesday the 7th of February and Thursday the 16th of February at 17:00-19:00 you can visit our school to get help logging in to answer the survey with the help of members from the PTA. During these times there is also the possibility to get translator help in Arabic and Somali.

 

After School Clubs 

Are clubs are now up and running and our students have the possibility to attend several different activities. The clubs are outside of lesson time and most often before or after school. Right now we have Chess-, Newspaper-, GSafe-, Basketball-, Baking-, Book-, Anime- and Volleyball clubs. This is something that has been very appreciated by our students. 

School choice for year 7 

Soon we will get the result from the skolval for year 7 for the school year 23/24. All students who are currently with us in year 6 are guaranteed a place with us in year 7. No matter which kommun they come from.
