Keeping schools open (corona update, March 20)

Dear all,

There is a huge flow of information at the moment and we want to update you, briefly and concisely, on the situation at Internationella Engelska Skolan.

Internationella Engelska Skolan decided early on to keep our schools open as far as possible; and that remains our position today, our schools are open. We will adapt to the circumstances and continue to provide classroom education until the authorities tell us to stop, or it is no longer possible.

IES has not closed any compulsory school. Internationella Engelska Gymnasiet Södermalm has gone over to full-time distance learning according to the Government’s directive.

Our compulsory schools are open to all students. However, due to the large number of absent staff, we have adapted our teaching, switching to distance education for certain grades and / or certain subjects for a limited time. This is in order to ensure both the students' educational quality and work environment. We continuously evaluate the situation and plan how we will return to regular teaching once staff are back.

Please keep reminding everyone of the “simple” rules:

  • If you are sick or have the slightest symptoms, stay at home.
  • Stay at home for two days after the last symptoms have ceased.
  • Parents should report absent students to school according to normal routines.

Stay safe and healthy,

Internationella Engelska Skolan.
