Kungsbacka Municipality has announced that it would welcome Internationella Engelska Skolan to open a new school for between 600 and 960 students from August 2021.
Jörgen Stenquist, Vice CEO of Internationella Engelska Skolan, said: “We have had very positive discussions with Kungsbacka Municipality and are delighted by the enthusiastic welcome that we have received from politicians, families and the local business community.
"We know the level of interest is high, with students from Kungsbacka traveling to our schools in Gothenburg - Johanneberg and Krokslätt. Opening a school in Kungsbacka would mean that more students would be able to choose the high-quality education that we offer and that they would not need to travel as far each morning and afternoon.
“An IES school in Kungsbacka could be a wonderful compliment to the education provided by the municipality, while at the same time helping to meet the great need for extra school places in the local area. We are keen to be part of the solution for Kungsbacka.”
Several agreements and permissions need to be secured before IES is able to officially announce that it is opening a school in Kungsbacka, including a license from Skolinspektionen. Once those conditions have been met IES will be able to send out a press release announcing the school, and launch a website and a queue so that families will be able register their interest for places.
