Join the queue for IES Luleå here.
Families can now choose Internationella Engelska Skolan in Luleå for their children, as a new school will open in August 2019.
Once it is fully up and running the planned school for students from Luleå and the surrounding area will have space for 18 classes, in grades 4-9, meaning around 540 students.
Initially the school will open with 10 classes and around 300 students. The number of classes in each year-group to open during the school’s first year will be decided based on where the interest in the queue is strongest.
Annette Brodin Rampe, IES’s CEO, said: “We are delighted and humbled by the trust the Municipality of Luleå has shown IES. We’re looking forward to being an integrated part of Luleå’s endeavor to remain an attractive and growing university town.
“Over 25 years of providing outstanding education IES has grown to run 34 schools from Umeå to Lund. We are well known for helping students learn to command the English language and meet high academic expectations, in a safe and calm environment where teachers can teach and students learn.
“We have been in dialogue with the municipality for some time, as they and the business community wanted to bring IES to Luleå. We will work closely with them and create a school which allows families to choose an alternative which complements the existing schools in the town well.”
Now a 20 year contact has been signed with landlords Dios. Pending the building approval process, work will begin as soon as possible to transform the building, in a wonderful location in Södra Hamn, into a first class, modern school, with everything required to offer students the ideal learning environment.
Interested families are already able to place themselves in the queue for the school by visiting https://sms.schoolsoft.se/engelska/jsp/public/right_public_studentqueue.jsp?school=ieslul and filling out the form. Students for each year-group will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Families will be given the chance to learn more about the school and ask questions at an information evening which will be held at Kulturens Hus in Luleå on Thursday, 29 November, from 6pm until 7pm.
Internationella Engelska Skolan will also open two new schools in 2018, in Länna and Sundbyberg, and has previously announced plans for Skellefteå, also in 2019.
