A Busy Time of Year

Dear colleagues

Updates at this time of the year come thick and fast as the company constantly evolves and grows and its most important elements, the students, are prepared one last time for study before the end of another busy and action-packed season.

IES Breckland: Uniform designsIES Breckland: Uniform designsThe new schools are starting to take a more solid form now. Vasterås’ student queue list is persistently reinforced. In Halmstad we finally finished painting the interior of the temporary annex. Our new UK school, IES Breckland, has just completed and secured its new school uniforms for 2012/13.

Elsewhere in the company it is that time of year known as ´the events season´. There are two football tournaments taking place this month! One at IES Orebro and a special IES Juniors football tournament in Stockholm on May 25.

In addition at the start of May there will be the much awaited Art Auction in Stockholm in Kungstradgården, May 5, where over 40 works of art from our students will go on display for a week and then be sold off to the highest bidders on the last day of exhibition. (I shall be phone bidding from abroad that weekend on a particular nice piece I saw recently).

Also this month sees the classic and annual IES Eurovision Song contest. Last year’s winners, Eskilstuna, will be hosting the event on April 25. The grapevine says that this year’s favourites are “Harry Collinz” from IES Gavle. Will the right artist win? We will have to wait and see. Watch the website for news of all these events and winners coming up shortly.

Training: Mr Fyles offers support to hopefuls from TäbyTraining: Mr Fyles offers support to hopefuls from TäbyOut and about in the schools I have witnessed some great students at work recently. At IES Taby recently I visited a fantastic football training session for the upcoming junior school competition.

A week or so ago I also visited IES Karlstad and although I did not get a chance to observe any lessons I was greeted and made to feel very welcome by an array of exceedingly well-mannered young ladies and gentlemen. Well done Mr Dahlin you truly do lead by example!

With Spring upon us, it is that time of the educational season when schools become intense and studies become frantic, so a very special greeting at this very busy time of year to all our Year 9 students and I wish you all great success in the final part of the academic year.

Finally, a special mention to class 5A at IES Uppsala, aka “skinning cats AB”. Rumour has it that you could well become the best class in IES if you carry on working hard. The jury is out until June 2016.

Keep on keeping on.

Autumn Term

As the Autumn term gets underway it is always most pleasing to see old and new teachers alike in our schools and to report back that we are progressing well. Recently, I visited all the schools as myself and Ms Bergström implemented the Quality Reports, and we got the opportunity, as always, to get a glimpse into life in the corridors and classrooms of Internationella Engelska Skolan. A new school year, 2011

A very warm welcome back to all the staff and students of Internationella Engelska Skolan. Let me begin by welcoming the two new Internationella Engelska Skolan schools in Hasselby and Uppsala into the  family. Both schools are raring to go and both will add to the quality of education within the company. Internationella Engelska Skolan plans to open two more schools in Sweden next year but more about those later.
