A team from Internationella Engelska Skolan Bromma will represent Stockholm in the national finals of a popular science and technology competition after it beat 187 other schools in the regional finals at KTH.

Now that it has been named the best class in Stockholm, 8E, from Internationella Engelska Skolan Bromma looks set to compete against teams from throughout Sweden in the national finals of Teknikåttan.

Marietta Kindberg, Principal of Internationella Engelska Skolan Bromma, said: “Congratulations 8E on beating 187 classes in the Stockholm area in this competition this far! What an achievement!”

The regional semifinal and final in the annual competition took place at KTH's campus. Six classes were competing for three final spots. The classes were tested both in practical whole class assignments that were prepared beforehand, and in two theoretical rounds.

In the first round 8E scored 11 out of 12 possible points in the practical part, a score that they took with them into the theoretical round where they had to beat another class. The suspense for all of the spectators was enormous as the other class caught up with 8E. However, in the mathematical and practical assignments 8E were the strongest class and won this round by five points. Proud class members and teachers cheered on.

The victory meant a spot in the afternoon's final. This time around it all started with theoretical questions, and was ended with a practical assignment, again one that had been prepared at home. In this round 8E had the lead through most of the competition, and had a maximum score of 10 out of 10 for the last practical part and with the fastest time by far.

8E can now look forward to representing the Stockholm region, and Internationella Engelska Skolan, in the national final in Umeå on Thursday, 24 of May.
