Meeting the queen of Sweden is something that most of us will never have the chance to do.
But six students from Internationella Engelska Skolan met with Queen Silvia after their first-class performance in Dagens Nyheter’s Nutidsorientering contest.
Ella Jennersjö, Ellen Åskag, Shlimoon Benyamin, Erica Äng and Sara Lindberg, from Internationella Engelska Skolan’s schools in Järfälla, Eskilstuna, Jönköping, Gothenburg and Gävle were each rewarded for being the best in their län during this year’s Nutidsorientering competition.
My Bodin from Internationella Engelska Skolan Karlstad also attended as the overall winner for the whole of Sweden.
As well as meeting the queen the students had the chance to speak with education minister Jan Björklund, and to attend the Nobel prize ceremony.
Meeting the six winners at the start of their busy weekend, Peter John Fyles, CEO of Internationella Engelska Skolan, took the chance to present them each with a certificate.
He said: “These children did fantastically well in this year’s Nutidsorientering contest and it was an absolute pleasure to meet them and give them my personal congratulations.
“I hope that they enjoyed their time with the Queen, with Mr Björklund and at the Nobel award ceremony immensely.”
As well as the fantastic individual successes of these students, Internationella Engelska Skolan Bromma celebrated the best results of any school in Sweden while four Internationella Engelska Skolan schools, in Eskilstuna, Linköping, Karlstad and Gävle were named the best school in their respective counties.
Meanwhile three classes from Internationella Engelska Skolan schools, 8A in Eskilstuna, 9D in Jönköping and 9A in Karlstad were each also named the best in their county.
Congratulations: (L-R) Erica Äng from Gothenburg, Sara Lindberg from Gävle, Ella Jennersjö from Järfälla, Shlimoon Benyamin from Jönköping, My Bodin from Karlstad, Ellen Åskag from Eskilstuna and Peter John Fyles, CEO of Internationella Engelska Skolan i Sverige AB
