I am absolutely delighted to introduce to you the leadership team for Internationella Engelska Skolan Halmstad. The principal will be Mr. Anders Stålhammar, who is recruited due to his proven managerial and communication skills. Mr. Stålhammar has for several years been closely aligned to our school in Örebro and is a firm believer in our ethos.

New Principal: Anders Stålhammar is set to open Internationella Engelska Skolan Halmstad

Mr. Anders Stålhammar, who has just been appointed Principal for Internationella Engelska Skolan Halmstad by the IES Board, will be working hard during spring to make sure that everything is ready for the school to open in August 2012.

• I want this school to be full of enthusiasm and of ambitious students achieving their goals in a nice environment, where everybody feels safe and comfortable. I want our children to reach even for things they did not know were possible for them.

Mr. Stålhammar is enchanted by Örjansskolan, which will be the permanent home of Internationella Engelska Skolan Halmstad. He said: “The building is absolutely beautiful; it´s like a cathedral. It would be hard to find a better place in Halmstad for a school.” An extensive renovation will see the historic building brought up-to-date, providing first-class facilities for the students, while respecting the heritage of the former school. So, for the first school year, Engelska Skolan will start on a smaller scale in an annex building, renovated this spring.

The new principal is no stranger to Internationella Engelska Skolan and what it stands for. He has seen first hand how the organization works to provide the best for every child. “My son loved his time at Engelska Skolan in Örebro. He met friends who shared his interest in studying and – above all – adults who helped him learn more, achieve his goals and perform better. Now, I look forward to creating that in Halmstad.”

Mr. Stålhammar, who has many years of management experience, will be working closely with his new colleagues to put together the best team possible for the new school. His father Bert Stålhammar is, by the way, a legendary principal and school reformer and professor of pedagogics, so he does not have to go far for some good advice...

• As for recruitment, I am looking for people who love their profession, are dedicated to it and enjoy it. That is what we need to help create a school which operates at the top level.

When the school first opens in August of 2012, it will take classes in years 4, 5 and 6. It will then grow to become a 4-9 school as the main building becomes available, after renovation, in the fall of 2013.
